Crete Beaches! !
Crete is a beautiful island off the Mediterranean coast, and is the largest among all the islands of Greece. It is extremely great and its coastline spans a thousand kilometers long speckled with numerous coves and bays. The beaches are warm and soft and the fine golden sand comes in contrast with the azure of the Mediterranean Sea.
For the whole family, Stalis and Almyros Beach (just to mention a few) are great beaches to visit. They have pleasant, shallow waters and have family oriented facilities like children’s playgrounds, parks, snack bars, pools and water sports areas.
For the hip and vibrant crowd who want a lot of fun, outdoor activities, parties, beach bars, taverns or just clear waters to splash in, the Hersonissos Beaches, Malia beach, Hani Kokkini and the beaches in Rethymno Town merit a visit.
Frangokastello and Kissamos Beaches just outside Chania and the beach of Lendas are lovely beaches that offer seclusion and beautiful sceneries. They are a sanctuary for people who just want to relax, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
If you are a little bit on the daring side, there are naturist beaches on the island of Crete. You can visit Sweetwater, Fallasarna and some parts of Hersonissos. These beaches are not necessarily private, so expect to see some other fellow naturist sunbathers. Then again, you can also pack lunch and drive along the coastline and if you’re lucky you might locate a small and empty bay – and the rest is really up to you.
There are so many beaches in Crete – all stunning, but at the same time very different. Each beach has its own distinct personality, so take your time and head to as many as you can – you’re sure to find the perfect beach for you!
