Crete Diving !

Crete is a beautiful island blessed with golden pristine beaches, historical sights, romantic coves, traditional architecture, rugged hiking paths and warm, wonderful people. When you think Crete is only a paradise to behold on land – wait till you see what’s under water!

Scuba diving in Crete used to be strictly controlled by the government, with many regulations and limitations due to its historical and archaeological treasures found underwater. In 2004, when Crete lifted its strict diving rules and limitations, many diving schools, resorts and clubs have then popped up while hordes of tourists from all over the world fly to Crete just to see its underwater beauty.

There are thirty dive sites in all of Crete and you can choose to go wall – diving, cave diving, wreck-diving, deep-diving, and night-diving among others. Crete has an exciting underwater landscape as it is still rugged even underwate. Kalypso Dive, Grouper Rock, Skinaria Cave and Dammoni Canyon are just some of the thirty dive sites in all of Crete.

Crete has many diving clubs that offer diving gear and facilities. Don’t worry if you have never tried diving before, most diving clubs have diving lessons and programs for inexperienced divers or beginners. They offer beach dives or boat dives from different diving sites. Diving schools and clubs offer diving certification courses or lessons, so you can also obtain your diving license there. Prices can vary depending on the diving club or school.

If you’re not into diving though, most clubs also let you go snorkeling just for fun. Divers Club and Stay Wet Diving Agia Pelagia, Scuba Kreta in Hersonissos, Blue Adventures Diving in Chania, Big Blue in Kato Gouves are just some of the diving clubs and schools in Crete that offer these amenities.
